ドルトムンダーラガーは、1868年頃ドイツのドルトムント発祥なビールスタイルで、炭鉱労働者や工業労働者に愛されてきました。地下での長時間の労働の後、冷たくてフルボディのビールに勝るものはないでしょう。アルコール度数5.0%以上のため、通常のラガーよりパンチが効くもののごくごく飲めるビールです。この地域の水に含まれる硫酸塩が、軽くてさわやかな、バランスの取れたパン粉のような後味を持つビールを生み出すのに役立ったと言われています。

Dortmunder Lagers were born around 1868 in Dortmund, Germany and became the favorite of coal miners and industrial workers. After all, what could be better than a cold, full-bodied beer after a long shift underground? With an ABV of at least 5.0%, they were crushable (before that was a thing), but strong enough to provide a much-needed kick. The sulfate levels in the water of the region helped create a beer with a light, crisp, balanced, and bready finish. Dortmunder? Now you know her!
