エリック・マケーとパトリック・ムルトーがバージニア州・リッチモンドで創業したハーディウッドパーククラフトブルワリーは、2011年にビールの醸造を開始しました。ブルワリー名の由来は、初めて自家製のビールを飲んだ二人が訪れていたオーストラリア・ニューサウスウェールズ州の牧羊場・ハーディウッドパークです。ホームブルワーとして醸造の技術を磨きながら、ニューヨークで10年以上クラフトビールの流通業界で勤めました。その後、パトリックはシカゴの醸造学校・Siebel Instituteとミュンヘン・Doemens AkademieでMaster Brewer Certificationを取得しました。

ハーディウッドのシンゲル（ブロンドエール）、ピルス（ドイツピルスナー）とVIPA（バージンディアペールエール）はFlagship Seriesのビールを構成しています。そのほかに季節ごとに発売するビール、地産地消を謳う"Virginia Roots"のビール、そして樽で熟成した"Barrel Series"ビールもあります。このシリーズは僅かの期間しか販売していない、かつ流通圏が狭いにもかかわらず、アメリカで7位と11位の販売高を誇るシリーズとなっています。

ワールド・ビア・カップやグレート・アメリカン・ビア・フェスティバルなど、品評会で数々の賞を受賞しているハーディウッドのビールですが、UntappdやRateBeer、Beer Advocateのランキングサイトで高得点を取っているなど、消費者の評価も高いです。ぜひご賞味ください。

Founded in Richmond, Virginia, by lifelong friends Eric McKay and Patrick Murtaugh, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery has been soulfully brewing beer since 2011. The brewery is the realization of a dream sprouted when first tasting home-brewed beer at Hardywood Park sheep farm in New South Wales, Australia. The brewery is named in its honor.

The co-owners grew up honing their craft as home brewers, then worked for more than a decade in craft beer distribution in New York. Patrick subsequently earned his Master Brewer Certification, studying at the acclaimed Siebel Institute in Chicago and Doemens in Munich.

Hardywood has a unique series of flagship beers, the “Virginia Roots” series (highlighting the brewery’s use of local agricultural produce), and a Barrel Series of barrel-aged beers. The series are the fourth and eleventh bestselling of any craft brewery in the US – despite Hardywood’s short history and relatively small geographical footprint.

Hardywood beers have earned international acclaim with medals at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival and also enjoy high ratings on consumer ratings platforms such as Untappd, RateBeer and Beer Advocate.
