Lager! We’ve long enjoyed making lagers at Breakside. These beers are universally loved by our brewers, and for good reason: they are refreshing, smooth, drinkable, clean, and complex. We’re excited to see that our customers are enjoying these styles more and more each year.

We first brewed Up Top! as a collaboration beer with La Cumbre Brewing from Albuquerque, New Mexico as part of our 10th anniversary. ‘Burque might be the best beer city per capita in the world, and La Cumbre is at the pinnacle of the ABQ brewing scene. Started by Jeff and Laura Erway in 2010. La Cumbre is known for its exceptional IPAs, world-class lagers, and all-around commitment to quality.

A lover of true lager. Jeff jumped at the idea that our brewmaster Ben proposed of doing an unfiltered “Zwickel-style” pilsner like those found in the northern part of Bavaria. These beers are hop-forward, gently carbonated, and served young-and-fresh. Unlike most lagerbier, which undergoes extended aging, these unfiltered beers still show some green character and will change over time, so it takes a high level of expertise to create a young lager’ that tastes bright and clean when young but also will mature well. We hope you enjoy this rich and soft lager, our attempt at an authentic German-style ungespundet, naturtrub!
