Last harvest season, we headed down to the Yakima Valley in Washington and made a stop in Moxee to visit our good friend Gavin and the team at @royfarms_hops . Despite being right in the middle of one of the busiest times of the year, they generously gave us a tour of their operation. Walking through the facility surrounded by the smell of freshly harvested and processed hops is something every brewer should experience at least once. Afterwards, we gathered on the patio to rub, smell, and evaluate some incredible experimental varieties from Roy Farms and the @latitude46hops breeding program.

Why are we telling you this story? Because one of those experimental hops completely captured our attention that day, and it eventually became the centerpiece of this beer.

This Double West Coast IPA showcases 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝟏𝟔𝟑𝟏 alongside a lineup of absolute hop heavyweights: 𝐄𝐥 𝐃𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨 from @crosbyhops , 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 from @haas_hops , and our selected 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝟗𝟎 from @yakimachief . Inspired by some of our favourite West Coast IPA brewers, we kept the malt bill lean and low in colour, allowing the 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 to do all the talking. The result is a beer that is 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐅, dangerously drinkable, and endlessly refreshing. A blend of yeast strains brings classic West Coast character while contributing bright, expressive fruit esters that make every sip 𝐩𝐨𝐩.

Of course, it needed a name. Looking around at the state of the world..where sports, politics, corruption, racism, and fascism seem increasingly intertwined, we couldn’t help but feel that we’re all feeding the machine in one way or another. Sometimes we just want to watch fútbol, support our favourite team, and enjoy the 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 built around the things we love without all the noise and division.

This beer is a thirst-quenching hop bomb, but it’s also a reminder of what sports should be about: 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭.
