イギリス、オックスフォードシャーのアビンドンにある象徴的なMG自動車工場の50周年を記念して、1979年に初めて醸造されました。
クリスタルモルトの比率が高いオールドスペクルドヘンは、タフィーやキャラメルのような風味が特徴。使われているホップは、ハーブの香りと、ごくわずかなオレンジシトラスを加えています。非常にモルティで、フルボディの温かみのあるエールです。

Old Speckled Hen is popular with ale drinkers up and down the country and renowned for its unique character and consistent quality.

The great British ale was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was even named after the factory’s old run around car which was often parked outside the paint shop. Spattered in paint, the car became known as the “Owld Speckl’d Un”. The eagle-eyed might even see the resemblance between MG’s logo and the Old Speckled Hen label!

More than 35 years on, the great premium ale continues to be a finely balanced beer with a distinctive rich, malty taste and fruity aroma.

Aroma: Malty, Toffee, Lightly Roasted

Taste: Warming, Fruity, Malty Toffee

Malt: Pale, Crystal

Hops: Admiral, Pilgrim, First Gold, Goldings

Perfect with: tasteful, quality British foods, premium pies, gravies, sausages and weekend BBQ's. Works perfectly with Sticky Toffee Pudding too!

Additional Notes: As the wind blows behind him, rusting the leaves and chilling the fingertips, the front door beckons. In one swift action the key is in and turned, the hallway traversed, and the kitchen reached. What’s there? The fridge. What’s in it?

It starts with the cap, gas slowly escaping as the treasure inside is revealed, bubbling away as a thin wisp of vapour loiters and lurks around the top of the bottleneck, soon to be dispersed as the pouring begins. “Two thirds at an angle and straight for the rest” says a voice in his head, a memory of days bygone working at the local, subconsciously driving the movement as the glass fills and the head rises above the rim.
