We’re back with a new batch of ModernOriginal, our ever-evolving, New Zealand-Style IPA.
Style: New Zealand IPA
ABV: 6.8%
Malt: Rahr North Star Pils
Hops: Citra, Nelson Sauvin, NZH-109
Yeast: Chico Ale
Modern Original is our playground to explore New Zealand hops and their unique sensory expressions. In partnership with @nzhopsltd , we’ve gained access to their Bract program- which introduces a small number of brewers to un-released experimental hops to get feedback. We previously used Bract 106 in a hoppy lager, Uncharted Paths, so were incredibly excited to be offered experimental Bract 109. The beer is ripe with distinct notes of Passionfruit, mango and lychee with a firm bitterness that reminds us of watermelon rind. Overall, NZH-109 presents incredibly tropical, and is unlike any hop we’ve used to date.
