For hundreds of years, folk indulged in an annual winter tradition known as the Feast of Fools, a celebration of mischief and merriment that took place in late December. In charge of leading the festivities was the Lord of Misrule, a local resident chosen at random to play a false clergyman. It is the Lord’s duty to enchant the masses, leading a campaign of extravagances that challenged the social order, fuelled by the year’s bounty of booze.

Together with our good friends, connoisseurs of make-believe Lord Whitney, we are hosting our very own Feast of Fools. And we’ve created the ultimate beer for the occasion. Inspired by traditional festive drinks like wassail, mulled wine and barley wine, we’ve put together a rich and warming 13% oat wine. Strong, sweet, and malt-forward, the oats bring a nutty, honey-like flavour and earthy seasonal spice. Conditioned over 15g/l of orange zest and Sri Lankan cinnamon sticks, this thick and boozy winter warmer is about as festive as it gets.

Hidden under the peel and reveal labels of five cans from our webshop are unique gold coins, which will mark the lucky drinker as appointed Lord.
