During hop harvest, our brew team sampled an experimental hop with aromas of sweet mango, spicy cardamom, and a hint of cream. They compared notes, and found that they both described the hop as “Mango Lassi”. Right then they both knew this drink had to be made into a beer. Upon returning to the brewery, they hatched a plan to brew an IPA inspired by that delicious Indian beverage, featuring the experimental hop HBC 472 along with additions of mango, milk sugar for additional silky body, and bit of kettle soured wort for a hint of tartness. Playing supporting roles are Citra and Ella hops for additional tropical and spicy aroma.
