今週は、おそらく多くの人があまり聞いたことのないビール、Dinkel Weisse（ディンケル・ヴァイス）をご紹介します。 それはDunkel Weisseではなく、Dinkel Weisseです。 ディンケルとはドイツ語でスペルトという、小麦に似た古代穀物のことです。 ディンケルヴァイスは基本的にドイツのヘフェヴァイツェンのようなものですが、小麦の代わりにスペルト麦芽を使用しています。 スペルトは口当たりにクリーミーさを与え、微かなトースト香やナッツ香をもたらします。
ディンケルヴァイスはヴァィツェン酵母からくるクローブとほのかなバナナの風味が特徴的です。 口当たりはフルでクリーミーですが、軽い酸味により丁度良いバランスが保たれ、とても爽やかなビールに仕上がりました。次々と飲み進めたくなるビールです。
This week we have a new beer that many people have probably never heard of, dinkel weisse. That is dinkel weisse, not dunkel weisse. Dinkel is the German word for spelt, which is an ancient grain similar to wheat. A dinkel weisse is basically like a German hefeweizen but it uses spelt malt instead of wheat. Spelt brings more creaminess to the mouthfeel and slight toastiness or nuttiness to the malt.
Our dinkel weisse has notes of clove and banana from the wiezen yeast. The mouthfeel is full and creamy but there is a subtle tartness that balances the full mouthfeel and makes the beer extremely refreshing. It makes it hard to stop at just one or two.
