Behind this beer
A Scotch wee heavy went into American bourbon barrels and emerged even richer. The whiskey, vanilla and oak character of the barrels added a depth and complexity to the already big yet nuanced caramel and toffee sweetness of this ale. Drink this now or in a few years. On its own or paired with robust cheeses, salty blues, nutty farmhouse-styles, or hearty roasted or grilled meat and vegetables.
Tasting notes
Strong, dark and malty with rich caramel and toffee flavors. Full-bodied and velvety thick with a subtle roasty finish. Strong bourbon aromas of vanilla and coconut, followed by notes of molasses, burnt sugar and dried fruit.
Ingredients
Golden Promise with a range of Fawcett amber, crystal and caramalts, and a touch of roasted and beech smoked barley. Fortified with a bit of brown sugar and hopped with two English classics, Target and East Kent Goldings.
