同じくロスアンゼルスの人気ブルワリー、Beachwood Brewingとのコラボレーションで造られたパイナップルのフレーバーにこだわったワイルドエール。お互いのセラーでベースとなるビールをピックアップしブレンド。実際にパイナップルも大量に使用しその風味を助長すべくEl Doradoでドライホッピング、更にパイナップルテルペンを投入した。やはり幾層にも重なるパイナップルの明るいトロピカルなフレーバーが支配的でファンキーさとオークのウッディーさが華を添える。スムースなマウスフィールと共にフルーティな甘酸っぱさが口内に溢れ、最後すっきりドライに締めくくられる。

The Story of Spindelshanks
This beer was born from a long, fun day of tasting and tinkering with our friends at Beachwood Blendery.

I was at their cellar, tasting through combinations of their barrels with them, trying to find a blend that really stood out. We kept landing on one specific concept that was beautifully balanced, complex, and had this unmistakable, bright pineapple character.

That pineapple note became our mission.

A bit later, we all convened at our cellar to build on that idea. We tasted through our own barrels, finding the perfect ones to complete the blend and really make that pineapple note sing.

From there, we just kept layering the “gold” theme:

We added a ton of golden pineapple fruit.
We dry-hopped it with El Dorado. (This hop is famously named for the mythical city of gold, reportedly for its “golden” ability to contribute… you guessed it… incredible pineapple notes.)
Finally, we added pineapple terpenes—a blend of botanically-isolated compounds that gives the beer a stunning, bright pineapple top note.
We needed a name to tie it all together. “Spindelshanks” is our little nod to Rumpelstiltskin, the classic fairy tale about spinning straw into gold.

It’s one of the most intentional, collaborative, and truly fun beers we’ve ever had a hand in making. I’m so excited to finally share it.

Tasting Notes:

A bright, layered expression of pineapple—from fresh-cut to fermented. It’s all supported by a firm, elegant acidity, a touch of tropical funk, and a complex oak and brett character from the barrels it grew up in.
