ロックスター Scott Murphy とのコラボで仕込んだ、重厚なスコッチエール

今回の「Scott Ale」は、ロックスター Scott Murphy との最新コラボビール。彼が「スコッチエールを作りたい」と言ったことから始まり、私たちは徹底的に作り込みました。使用したモルトはなんと 7種類。そのうち6種類がクリスタルモルトで、ダークキャラメル、トフィー、ほのかなプラムやレーズン、そして全体を包み込むモルティな甘みを複層的に表現しています。

リッチな味わいながら、後味はドライに仕上げ甘さが残りすぎないバランス設計。発酵にはイングリッシュスタイルの酵母を使用し、アプリコットやピーチのニュアンスが伝統的なスコッチエールらしさを引き立てています。

ABVは9% ですが、ほんのりとした温かみを与える程度で、ビール全体の調和に貢献しています。IPAがクラフトビールの中心となる時代だからこそ、たまには違ったスタイルをじっくり楽しむのも良いものです。熟成にも向くビールなので、ぜひ今・一年後・さらにその先と、時間を変えて味わってみてください。

Scott Ale is our newest collaboration with rock star Scott Murphy, who wanted to brew a proper Scotch Ale — so we went all in. This beer uses seven different malts, six of them crystal malts, layered together to create deep complexity: dark caramel, toffee, hints of plum and raisin, and an overall malty sweetness.

Despite its richness, the beer finishes dry, keeping it from becoming cloying or overly sweet. We fermented it with an English-style yeast that brings classic notes of apricot and peach, enhancing the traditional Scotch Ale character.

At 9% ABV, the beer gives only a light warming sensation while providing balance and structure. In a world dominated by hops and IPA-centric craft beer, this is a refreshing change of pace — a beer meant to be savored. And it’s one that will only get better with time, so we recommend enjoying one now, one in a year, and another even later.
