名前について / About the Name

Overcastとは曇り空のことです。なんだかどんよりした印象を受けますが、ホップフレーバーはしっかりのって明るい味わいです。曇り空の向こうに隠れた真夏の太陽みたいです。

**Overcast** means a sky completely covered with clouds. It may sound a little gloomy, but this beer is bursting with bright hop flavor. Think of it as the midsummer sun hidden just beyond the clouds—still shining, waiting to break through.

造りかた / How It's Made

Phantasmというニュージーランドのワインメーカーが作る、ソーヴィニョン・ブランの果皮を粉末化させた商品があり、　これを使うとチオール前駆体をたくさん麦汁に供給してくれます。その前駆体を酵母が分解するとフルーティな香りを生み出してくれます。今回はそのチオール前駆体を分解しやすい酵母を選んで発酵させました。
ドライホップではCitraとRiwakaを5:1の割合で使いました。Riwakaの癖の強さはすごい。
濁りは意図的なものではなく、結果的に濁りが取れなかったのでHazy Pale Aleとしました。酵母との相性だったのかもしれません。

There is a product called **Phantasm**, developed by a New Zealand wine producer, made from powdered Sauvignon Blanc grape skins. When added to wort, it provides a rich source of thiol precursors. As yeast metabolizes these compounds during fermentation, it releases intensely fruity and expressive aromas. For this beer, I selected a yeast strain known for its ability to efficiently unlock and convert those thiol precursors.

The dry hop consisted of Citra and Riwaka at a 5:1 ratio. Even in a supporting role, Riwaka's character is incredibly distinctive and powerful.

The haze was not intentional. In the end, the beer simply never cleared as expected, so I decided to classify it as a Hazy Pale Ale. It may have been due to the interaction between the yeast strain and the hop compounds, but whatever the cause, the resulting haze became part of the beer's character.

エキゾチックなフルーツ感がぎっしり詰まっています。パッションフルーツやグレープフルーツ、甘いフルーツのキャラクターがあります。Riwakaホップのキャラクターが程よくユニークさを演出してくれています。
濁っていますが、スムースでスッキリしたアフターテイストです。

It is packed with exotic fruit character, bursting with notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, and sweet tropical fruits. The distinctive character of Riwaka adds just the right amount of uniqueness and complexity to the aroma profile.
Although hazy in appearance, the beer finishes smooth and remarkably clean, with a crisp and refreshing aftertaste.
